Pershore Plum Festival Family Fun Race Day – 6 August at Worcester Race Course
Come and meet Hook Norton’s shires Major, Consul and Prunella the Pershore Purple Plum.
Come and meet the Hook Norton shire horses Major and Consul, and Prunella the Pershore Purple Plum at the Pershore Plum Festival Family Fun Race Day – 6 August at Worcester Race Course.
The Hook Norton dray and its shire horses Consul and Major will be making a guest appearance and take part in a procession at the family fun and National Hunt racing day - where the festival mascot Prunella the Purple Plum will be entertaining visitors.
And if you fancy a pint of Hooky Bitter while at the festival then visit the nearby Cap 'n' Gown pub, 45 Upper Tything, Worcester, WR1 1JZ.
The festival sees the return of the Land O’Plums Chase, which is restored to the National Hunt calendar for the first time in 71 years. The 111 year old race last ran in Pershore, but now the “Gold Cup” of the town will run again.
Plums, plum products and the colour purple are the focus of the day as well as entertainment for the children in the form of Prunella the Pershore Purple Plum, a pet zoo, bouncy castles, face painting and balloon modelling.
There will be everything for sale from plum sausages to plum cheese and plum soap.
To cap off the day, the annual Jump Jockey Football match will be contested in the centre of the course after the racing.
